We are so blessed so have such great friends who have already asked time and time again - "HOW CAN WE HELP?" Here are some ideas that we have come up:
- The garage sale to end all garage sales - April 4th and 5th: Time to clean out those closets and junk drawers! We know that not everyone may be in a place were they can help monetarily, but everyone has stuff they want to get rid of! So between now and April 4th we would love to take anything you may have to donate to our garage sale. We are willing to come and pick up, if you are not able to bring it our house. We would also love to have people help us organize and label stuff the week before as well help us work the garage sale that Friday and Saturday. If you are interested and available to help us with the garage sale, please e-mail with the details of how you can help.
- Outdoor Movie Night and BBQ - Friday, April 11th: Come bring the kids for an outdoor showing of the movie "Meet the Robinsons" (which just so happens to be about adoption) and grab a plate of BBQ for $10 per plate. Our great friends, Valerie and Donnie Gothard, are going to host this event at their house. As the date gets closer I will put together an evite and Facebook event, so if you would like more details be sure to connect with me on Facebook or e-mail me your contact information.
- 100 Good Wishes Quilt: To welcome and celebrate a new life, there is a tradition in the northern part of China to make a Bai Jia Bei, or 100 Good Wishes Quilt. It is a custom to invite friends and family to contribute a patch of cloth with a wish for the baby. Part of the patch of cloth goes into the quilt for the baby, and the other part of the cloth can go into a creative memory notebook with the wish for the child. The quilt contains the luck, energy, and good wishes from all the families and friends who contributed a piece of fabric. The quilt is then passed down from generation to generation. We would love to have a quilt like this for our little girl to show her how many people already love her, are praying for her and are invested in her coming home. We would like to sell quilt squares for $10 each. If you would like to purchase a square, e-mail me and I will give you further instructions. We are hoping for the quilt to look something like this:
- Pure Charity: If fundraisers aren't your thing, you can always donate directly to our adoption through Pure Charity. The link is on my home page in the right hand column. All donations go straight to our agency, Dillon International.
