I also realized, while uploading the pictures, we haven't yet gotten a picture of our travel guide while we are in Beijing, Eric. I will try to post a picture of him in the next post, because he has been the absolute GREATEST! And, has put up with my never ending questions so well! We have also been able to FaceTime with the kiddos back home, who convinced their grandmother to stay home from school on Friday - geez! Grandma, you just got played!
Chad's perspective of the trips so far:
As we boarded the plane from Houston to Beijing, the guy behind us shared a tip about getting over the jet lag: "Definitely stay awake the whole plane ride. I do this all the time - always the best way to go!" Jenny said she was going to do the same, so I figured I would stay awake too.
...8 hours later, Jenny and the guy behind us are snoring it up, while I'm the sucker still awake. Jerks.
It's been an amazing trip so far! Beijing is such a diverse city and has so much history! If you ever get to visit, you obviously will go to the Great Wall and you will be tempted to climb it. That's where you are unfortunately poorly prepared for the task. You look at the wall and think, "Wow! That's amazing! I should definitely climb that!" But 30 minutes later, you will find yourself only 1/3 of the way up the wall and your heart will be shooting out of your chest, having not worked that hard since you were 8 years old - a time in which exercise was oddly masked as "fun". Hopefully you will run into some cheery Russians though (yes, they do exist!), who will coax you the rest of the way.
Looking forward to the next adventure!
